The Beauty of Rendered Detail
I love nature in all its forms. The beauty of nature, to me, is in the small details, the curves and patterns and shapes that distinguish creatures and make them fit their environment, so I pay attention to those small details, and painstakingly replicate them. Pencils are, and remain my favorite medium, though Pen, Ink, Watercolor, Acrylic, Colored Pencil and Pastel make an entry on occasion.
Influenced by Naturalism
I find beauty in the myriad forms and functions of life. Sometimes the subjects are dispassionately represented, sometimes romanticized, but always presented monolithically- by themselves, frequently isometrically, so that the details and form can speak for themselves. I'm influenced by artists like Albrecht Durer, John James Audubon and Charles D'Orbigny.
